Sweet and Sour Meatballs

1 pound lean ground beef
1/2 cup breadcrumb
1 egg, beaten
1/2 cup catsup
2 tablespoons finely chopped onion
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon ginger
20 oz canned pineapple chunks, in heavy syrup
1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1/4 cup vinegar
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 medium green bell pepper, diced
3 cups hot cooked rice

Combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, 1/4 cup catsup,
onion, garlic powder and ginger, mix well.
Shape to form about thirty 1-inch meatballs.
In medium skillet, cook meatballs over medium
heat until evenly brown, about 15 minutes.
Remove from skillet and drain.
Drain pineapple, reserving syrup.
In skillet, combine brown sugar and cornstarch.
Stir in reserved pineapple syrup, vinegar,
remaining 1/4 cup catsup and soy sauce.
Bring to a boil, stirring until thickened.
Add meatballs, pineapple and green pepper, then
reduce heat.
Cover and simmer about 10 minutes or until green
pepper is crisp tender, stir occasionally.
Serve over hot cooked rice.
